Project description (Inventory Management)
The client is a prominent sanitary ware and ceramic products importer and distributor in Pakistan. At the various nationwide warehouses, products are being imported and stored for onward dispatches to client and dealer network. The vast product range includes polished porcelain, ceramic tiles and floor tiles not to mention complete set of accessories that are being used in bathrooms.
Currently these transactions are handled through a conventional paper based process. Client wishes to automate the process through RFID. In addition to fixed readers, items can be tracked and traced through handheld readers. These handheld readers could also be utilized to audit fixed assets. The GPRS/Wi-Fi enabled readers could transmit data in a real time manner.
Despite having SAP B1, there are challenges pertaining to receiving, issuance, tracing and tracking of thousands of inventory items on a daily basis There is a need for a robust, real time mechanism to monitor inventory movements throughout the warehouse network and centralized interface.
